ABOUT ME

Me.png

Who am I? What a strange question to ask yourself, but since you’re on my “about me” page I’m here to answer that question.  I have defined myself as a creative problem solver because as I have grown through the creative industry, I have chosen to not stick to one specific design concentration but to use these skills to overcome any challenge.

I started my creative journey when I was 8 years old and received my first sewing machine, and from that moment I knew I wanted to be a fashion designer. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from North Carolina State where I studied Fashion Textile Design. My time at NC State flew by as I acquired many skills ranging from fashion illustration and pattern design to design thinking and concept generation. I loved every class I took, but during this period I started to notice an overlying issue in the fashion industry. The vast amount of textile waste was dumbfounding. So, I did what any creative problem solver would do… tried to solve the problem in any way that I could. I co-founded social entrepreneurship, HK Creations, a clothing company dedicated to the recycling and redesigning of old textiles. I continued this same mentality throughout the rest of my time at NC State, trying to figure out how I could complete a variety of design challenges in a sustainable way. I closed my time at NC State with one final project Refresh, an entirely sustainable resort wear collection (check it out in my portfolio).

On to the next task at hand, where to start my professional career. I chose STITCH Golf or more as it chose me. STITCH Golf is a Luxury Golf Gear and Apparel Company, but that’s not how it began. It began as a cool leather headcover company backed by a bunch of amazing, talented people who believed in the vision. I’m absolutely one of those people. I started as a graphic designer doing simple projects and have grown to be the Art Production Manager of a creative department that didn’t exist when I started. I have used my problem-solving skills to create beautiful catalogs, brand imagery, and many successful marketing campaigns. I never saw myself as a stylist or a web designer or even an art director, but my skill set has led me to do all those things. Lesson learned, don’t put yourself in a box.

So, who am I? I am a creative problem solver, a wearer of many hats, an artist, an adventure traveler, an outdoor enthusiast, a tree hugger, a dog lover, and a bit of a goofball. I want to use my creativity, entrepreneurial mindset, love for nature, and technical skills to leave a positive impact on the textile industry.
